Previewing License Rule Results

You can preview the results of individual rules. This enables you to make adjustments to the rule, if necessary, before applying it.

To preview license rule results:

  1. Go to the License Assignment Rules page (Licenses > SAP Optimization > License Assignment Rules). The License Assignment Rules: s ***ystem landscape name *** page is displayed.
  2. If you want to switch to a different landscape, click Change Landscape in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. On the License Assignment Rules: s ***ystem landscape name *** page, double-click the rule set that contains the rule that you want to preview.
  4. The License Assignment Rule Set: rule set name page opens. In the Rules section, double-click the rule for which you want to preview results.
  5. In the Preview Results section, click Show license recommendations.

    • The rule results preview is based on the consumption data of the previous month and provides the following information (you can modify which columns are displayed using Advanced > Choose Fields).

      MatchedA green check mark indicates that the conditions of the rule have been met.
      User NameThe User ID of the user on the system on which the rule was run.
      First NameThe first name of the user on the system on which the rule was run.
      The last name of the user on the system on which the rule was run.
      Result ReasonGives details which rule produced the result.
      Accounting NumberThe user’s accounting number.
      Change RequiredYes indicates that a change of license type is recommended; No indicates that there is no recommendation to change the license type.
      Client IDThe client ID of the system on which the rule was run.
      Days Since Last LogonThe number of days since the user last logged on to the SAP system.
      DeveloperIndicates whether the user currently has a developer license. This field is currently not supported for S/4HANA systems.
      Email AddressThe email address of the user on the system on which the rule was run.
      ExtensionThe user’s phone extension.
      Inventory DateThe date of the last inventory.
      Last Logon DateThe date when the user last logged on to the SAP system.
      License Type (Current)The license type that is currently assigned to the user on the system.
      License Type (Recommended)The license type that is recommended for the user.
      Locked UserDisplays a check mark if the user is currently locked.
      Phone NumberThe user’s phone number.
      Production UserDisplays a check mark if the user is a production user.
      System IDThe three-character ID of the system on which the rule was run.
      System TypeSpecifies whether the system is an SAP system or a non-SAP system.
      User Creation DateThe date when the user was created on the SAP system.
      User GroupThe group that the user belongs to.
      User TypeThe user type of the user.
