Example: Embedding a Dashboard into Your ServiceNow Environment

note

IT Visibility is being upgraded with the introduction of Technology Intelligence Platform beginning in September 2024. Flexera will contact you directly regarding the timeframe of your upgrade. With Technology Intelligence Platform, out-of-the-box IT Visibility dashboards are being replaced with new, enhanced IT Visibility Technology Intelligence Platform reports. For more information, see IT Visibility With Technology Intelligence Platform Reports..

Your current custom and out-of-the-box dashboards will remain available for 6 weeks after your organization has been upgraded to Technology Intelligence Platform. During this time frame, you will be able to recreate your custom views in the new reporting capability. At the end of this time frame, access to all previous IT Visibility dashboarding capabilities will be removed.

Using the embed code from Flexera One, you can place an IT Visibility dashboard into a ServiceNow dashboard. In this example, we will create a Content Item, an IFrame, and a Dashboard in ServiceNow and then embed the IT Visibility Executive Summary dashboard into that ServiceNow dashboard.

info

To embed a dashboard, you must have the appropriate privileges in ServiceNow to create Content Items, IFrames, and Dashboards.

To embed an IT Visibility dashboard into an Iframe in ServiceNow:

  1. In ServiceNow, create a Content Item with the following settings:

    PropertySetting/Value
    NameFlexera One IT Visibility Dashboard
    Content TypeModule
    ModuleIFrames
    TargetNew Window/Tab
Short DescriptionFlexera One IT Visibility Dashboard: Portfolio Overview \- Executive Summary .
    PropertySetting/Value
    Navigation PanelOff
    Custom HeightOff
    Filter by TagsOff
  2. In the Embed Dashboard dialog box, click URL > Copy URL. This button copies the URL embed code for the Executive Summary dashboard. This embed code is used in a moment to set the URL value of a new IFrames record in ServiceNow.

  3. Returning to ServiceNow, on the Flexera One IT Visibility Content Item page, click Try It and add a new IFrames record with the following settings:

    PropertySetting/Value
    NameFlexera One Executive Summary
    Frame NameFlexera One Executive Summary
    SizingFixed size
    Height2000
    Width2000
URLPaste the embed code from the Flexera One Executive Summary dashboard.
  4. In ServiceNow, create a new Self-Service Dashboard and name it Portfolio Overview - Executive Summary.

  5. In the new Portfolio Overview - Executive Summary dashboard, add the Flexera One Executive Summary IFrame as a Content Blocks widget.

Once the dashboard has been successfully embedded into ServiceNow, you can quickly access it by choosing it from your ServiceNow Dashboards page.

Provided you are logged in to Flexera One concurrent with your ServiceNow session, the Flexera One dashboard embedded into ServiceNow is dynamically updated and supplies the same filtering and drilldown functionality available within Flexera One.
